Non-destructive tests Ponti Bergamo (Italy)

The activity involved the execution of non-destructive tests in order to characterize the materials. The verification was carried out on two Bridges in the Province of Bergamo.

The first bridge of the parabolic arch type with an upper way with a structure entirely in concrete with a deck supported by styli formed by portals, the second with a gerber beam deck in C.A.P.

In both bridges the metal reinforcements were identified in order to define the internal texture of the structural elements, estimated the compressive strength of the concrete using the combined SonReb method by measuring the propagation of ultrasound in the same area previously investigated with sclerometric beats.

The mechanical characteristics of the steel in place were evaluated by evaluating the surface hardness of the same, correlating it to the tensile strength and yield strength, and the census and cataloging of existing degradations and defects was also carried out.

This verification made it possible to improve the level of knowledge of the bridges in order to refine the subsequent analyzes.
