E-ELT, European – Extremely Large Telescope (Cile)

The most ambitious project for the observation of the skies is the E-ELT (European-Extremely large telescope), a new telescope to be built in the mountains of Chile, at 3000 meters of altitude: a giant with a mosaic-mirror composed of a thousand of mirrors for a surface of almost 40 meters in diameter.

The activity carried out by BOLINA for the Cimolai Technical Office concerned:

• the development of the concept of the nodes in the lifting points during the assembly phases of the dome;
• the validation with ANSYS of the original FEM calculation model
