Experimental test design, survey and evaluation of the current state of affairs of the existing work of art; Final and Executive Project of the structural consolidation interventions and restoration of the durability conditions of existing materials
The bridge in question, designed in 1945, is characterized by an overall span of about 79 m. It was built on 5 solid brick masonry arches, with a span of 12 m each and a 5 m carriageway.
The substructures consist of 4 piers and two concrete abutments, built on direct foundations in the bed of the same material.
In order to be able to analyze the current state of the existing superstructure, geometric surveys and specific tests in situ and in the laboratory were carried out.
In particular, for the purposes of a correct identification of the structural system and a mechanical characterization of the materials, the following tests were carried out:
- Core drilling and crushing tests for concrete
- Endoscopies for the reconstruction of the stratigraphy of the main structural elements
- Flat jacks and thermographic surveys for structural masonry elements
In addition, in order to identify the stratigraphic and groundwater conditions within the significant volume of the subsoil, and to characterize, together with the laboratory investigations, the mechanical behavior of the various formations present, the following were performed:
- Dynamic penetrometric tests S.P.T.
- MASW-type investigations (Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves)
Downstream of the results of the tests, the vulnerability assessment and the design of the interventions will be carried out.
